I've spent most of my career somewhere between a rice field and a spreadsheet. My work sits at the intersection of rural development, agrifood systems, and climate adaptation, mostly in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, with a recent detour into the Mekong Delta for my master's research.
I finished my Erasmus Mundus degree magna cum laude as a VLIR-UOS scholar, which still surprises me a little. My dissertation looked at how households in rice-shrimp farming communities in Vietnam make sense of food security when saltwater slowly creeps into their fields. That work ended up winning the UGent Future Proef Award.
I'm comfortable writing for academia and just as comfortable sitting in a FGD with farmers and fishers in Leyte. Honestly, I prefer the latter.
